MAXIMILIAN MAEDER
“I’ve always enjoyed racing from young. I like the speed and intense competition, as well as to always push my limits. I grew up near the sea. When I started watching the hydrofoil racers gracefully “flying” over the water, I was fascinated and wanted to learn what they were doing. It took me quite a while to get into it, and I was close to giving up at one point because it was just so frustrating. But in the end, my family kept me going. As soon as I managed to ride on the foil, I knew this was the sport for me.”
I am a NORQAINER – my life, my way
Maximilian Maeder is a 15-year-old Singaporean Kitefoiler, and our youngest NORQAINER worldwide. Starting the sport at a tender age of 10, Maximilian has gone on to clinch several junior world titles in kite racing over the years. He gained more prominence in 2021 when he snagged top spot at both the Formula Kite Youth (Under-19) World Championships and the men’s Open title at the Formula Kite European Championships.
Maximilian is a true NORQAINER – his life, his way.
Congratulations to Maximilian for being nominated for the 2021 Straits Times Athlete of the Year Award!
Maximilian’s NORQAIN
I chose the Adventure Sport Chrono 44mm DLC for its great style along with its chronograph functionality, reminding me that precision is the key for my starts. It is the first mechanical watch I’m wearing, and its a great look, especially with the Norqain sideplate. I chose to engrave: “Plus Ultra” on my Norqain plate. It means “Further Beyond”. Because even when you think that the limits have been reached, for yourself, your competitors, the sport your in or anything else, you can always go that little bit further.
